The Mexico Team began our day with making 200 pb&j sandwiches which were handed out downtown at the end of a mini church service we held right across the street where prostitution was legal in Tijuana. The team also had the chance to explore their bartering abilities at the local market and spent a little bit of sun time at the beach, where about 4 people actually braved the cold waters and jumped in. A couple of highlights from the day: one was a visit to a men's rehab center where the team was met with God's strong presence through such amazing prayer warriors who were struggling through various health ailments, such as cancer, strokes, and broken legs/knees. These men, who the world would expect to be filled with bitterness and anger, committed to praying for the entire team beyond the time of their visit. It was a strong and encouraging moment for all of us. The second highlight was without a doubt THE BEST TACOS THAT EVERY PERSON HAS EVER HAD were consumed during lunch at the beach town called Rosarito. And no, there is no exaggeration when we say they were THE BEST TACOS we've ever consumed. We can only hope that the memory of the experience stays on our palettes for a while. Buenos noches! Without a doubt, the team will face our final day in Tijuana tomorrow with gusto! We visit our biggest orphanage, another rehab, and attend another local church. Keep us in your prayers as I'm sure we will all experience a sense of sadness as we say goodbye to the people of Tijuana.

Mexico team update: Yesterday 20 of us worked at the Puente de Amistad base for about 4 hours. That means we were able to put in roughly 80 hours of work! We also had a tour of the Cruising for Jesus rehab center where men are able to find Jesus as they detox from drugs and alcohol. This morning we worshiped with the Cruising for Jesus church with song and our students who spoke. For lunch, we had a BBQ with an orphanage and got to love on those children who are desperate for love and attention.

Today the Mexico team served patients with AIDS and women in a rehab with song, prayers, and a testimony. We are so thankful for your encouragement, thoughts, and prayers. God is good! Tomorrow please pray for us as we work at the base on some projects and then bring bags of rice, beans, and donated shirts and soccer balls to an extremely impoverished community near Tijuana.

Thank you for your prayers! The Mexico team arrived in Tijuana shortly after midnight. Tomorrow, we will be serving at a women's rehab and a hospice for patients with AIDS. Pray that God will give our students a good nights sleep and we will continue to give you an update through the week. Our Athletic Director, Corey Anderson says, "Buenas Noches!"

Mis*sion*ary more than just a {noun}

“As I continued to wrestle with how easily my heart tends to harden when I am confronted by poverty, I brought this concern to the group’s attention.  We discussed the importance of the issue and then concluded that we could indeed change how we normally react… I decided that rather than ignoring someone and continuing to walk by, I could simply smile at them and offer up a silent prayer while asking the Holy Spirit for guidance.” –NCU student
