Dr. Ford is the director of the Center for Career Services and
Counseling. She began her tenure at NCU in 2004, teaching courses
in counseling ethics, diagnosis, assessment, research methods, and
career development. She is one of the clinical supervisors in the
CMHC program and provides counseling services to clients through
her own private practice.
Dr. Ford's clinical expertise is in individual counseling
focusing on issues of occupational stress, trauma, anxiety,
depression, grief and loss, and career development. While she
primarily works with adult men and women, she has worked with
children, adolescents, college students, and older adults in
community agencies, K-12 schools, and higher education.
Dr. Ford's specialization is in career counseling,
trauma-related issues, and parental alienation. She has performed
research, presented, and written about parental alienation, an
issue that affects children and families in high-conflict
divorces.
Outside of her responsibilities at NCU, Dr. Ford develops her
interest and expertise in crisis mental health through her position
as a psychosocial advisory board member for Medical Teams
International (MTI). She has been on international assignment with
MTI to Banda Aceh, Indonesia (2005) and Chisinau, Moldova (2011).
Additionally, she is a certified compensation and pension examiner
with the Department of Veteran's Affairs. She has worked with U.S.
military Veterans since 2009.
Dr. Ford states, "My work is very important to me and I enjoy
the opportunity to develop relationships with students and
colleagues. I am passionate about the field of counseling and
consider it a great privilege to work in a faith-based environment
that supports the academic, career, spiritual, and personal growth
of students."
