Heike McNeil, Ph.D.

Heike McNeil is originally from Europe, having grown up in Germany and Austria. Heike came to the United States in 1992 to attend Linfield College in McMinnville Oregon. She graduated from Linfield in 1996 with a BS in Chemistry.

She went on to continue studying chemistry at the University of Oregon, where she completed her PhD in 2000. During her time at Oregon, Heike did her research in materials chemistry, specifically thermoelectric materials. Heike has published over 15 articles and proceedings in this field.

Heike has been at NCU since 2003. She has been instrumental in creating the Exercise Science academic program at NCU and she primarily teaches Chemistry and Nutrition. She also enjoys teaching special topics classes in the exercise science curriculum.   

Heike is passionate about physical fitness and human performance, she works as a certified personal trainer in the summer and is also the head cross country and track coach at NCU.

She has been married to her husband David for nine years, together they enjoy trailrunning, mountainbiking, backpacking, canyoneering and other outdoor adventures - often accompanied by Kona, their Chesapeake bay retriever.
