Heike McNeil is originally from Europe, having grown up in
Germany and Austria. Heike came to the United States in 1992 to
attend Linfield College in McMinnville Oregon. She graduated from
Linfield in 1996 with a BS in Chemistry.
She went on to continue studying chemistry at the University of
Oregon, where she completed her PhD in 2000. During her time at
Oregon, Heike did her research in materials chemistry, specifically
thermoelectric materials. Heike has published over 15 articles and
proceedings in this field.
Heike has been at NCU since 2003. She has been instrumental in
creating the Exercise Science academic program at NCU and she
primarily teaches Chemistry and Nutrition. She also enjoys teaching
special topics classes in the exercise science
curriculum.
Heike is passionate about physical fitness and human
performance, she works as a certified personal trainer in the
summer and is also the head cross country and track coach at
NCU.
She has been married to her husband David for nine years,
together they enjoy trailrunning, mountainbiking, backpacking,
canyoneering and other outdoor adventures - often accompanied by
Kona, their Chesapeake bay retriever.
