Steve Silver is a graduate of Northwest Christian College, and has worked in the Kellenberger library at NCU since 1995. He has been the library director since 2006. Silver previously served in music ministry positions in Disciples of Christ congregations throughout the Pacific Northwest for many years, and most recently at Bethesda Lutheran Church, leading choral choirs, handbell choirs, youth choirs, and contemporary music teams, as well as providing piano music for weddings and other events. Although no longer in a paid ministry position, he still volunteers in music and worship leadership at Bethesda Lutheran Church, where he and his family have attended since 1998.

Silver have a passion for uncensored access to information and for the need for information literacy skills for all (the ability to effectively access, evaluate, and use information). In striving to meet the needs of library users, he continually informs himself about the work and study habits, needs, expectations, and typical behaviors of our user groups, from "millenials" to "older, wiser learners." Silver is the institutional caretaker for the university archives, museum, and our amazing collection of rare books and Bibles, and loves to show our Bibles and talk about the history of the English Bible with classes, groups, and visitors.
