Professor Srader studies rhetoric and argumentation.
Specifically, he studies intra-professional argumentation.
Professionals, such as doctors and lawyers and clergy, have an
imagined profile of the ideal persona that people in their
profession should embrace, and over time they defend or modify or
renew it by arguing about best practices. Srader studies those
arguments for clues about those ideal professional personae.
Srader typically teaches any communication class that needs to
be taught, but gets the biggest kick out of teaching public
speaking. In his career he's taught more than one
hundred sections of it to over two thousand students. He also
enjoys teaching everything from interpersonal communication to
public relations to communication theory.
In his free time, Srader enjoys reading, baking cookies, modular
origami and hunting for the perfect sushi restaurant. He attends
Fairfield Baptist Church and lives in Eugene, close enough to
Autzen Stadium to hear the road of the crowd.
