Professor Sturms teaches in the areas of ministry, linguistics, anthropology, and sociology. He moved to Eugene with his wife and two children from Indonesia where he was a missionary and professor. He is an ordained minister and an elder in his church.

Charles' hobbies include cooking Asian food and being a grandpa.
