Students Devote Themselves to Prayer
Release Date: Monday, November 23, 2009
Northwest Christian University Campus Ministries sponsored "15
Hours of Prayer" on November 19-20th. Taking place once each
semester on the campus of NCU, the event begins with the normally
scheduled Thursday night chapel service at 8:00pm and concluding
the following morning with Friday's 11:00am Chapel service.
The students, faculty, and staff that chose to attend were
invited to pray for the world, community, campus body, and any
issues that they have been dealing with personally. This year there
were different "rooms" within the chapel in which participants were
encouraged to pray for different things. Also, each hour had a
distinct theme and movement to which participants could relate
their prayers. It was also made sure that during this time, each
individual student attending NCU was prayed for.
Alex Davies, Student Worship Coordinator, said, "Prayer is
powerful. Having an event like this to spend extended time praying
is good because our culture has gotten used to the short, personal
need-based prayer, and we need more of the personal, one-on-one
communication time devoted to speaking with God. Setting time aside
for this is something that a lot of us neglect to do."
