Nomination Criteria & Process

  • All nominations must be alumni from an academic program of Northwest Christian University and/or Northwest Christian College.
  • All nominees should reflect the ideals of Northwest Christian in their commitment to their profession, church, community, and university.
  • All nominees should have demonstrated support for and sympathy with the vision, mission, and values of Northwest Christian University
  • Nominees may be asked to submit biographical information for review by the selection committee.
  • Nominations will be solicited annually through publications of Northwest Christian.
  • Nominations can be made by anyone, whether an alumnus of Northwest Christian or not, with final selection by a committee consisting of alumni representatives, faculty/staff representatives, and the director of alumni relations. Committee selections will be presented to the university president for his approval.
  • Nominations must indicate the particular award for which an alumnus/alumna is being nominated.
  • Previous award recipients are eligible for other awards for which they meet the criteria. Recipients cannot receive the same award twice.
  • Alumni who have been previously nominated, but were not selected to receive an Alumni Award, may be nominated again at any time.
  • Nominations for the Distinguished Alumni Achievement award will remain valid for a period of three years. If the nominee has not been selected after three years, the Office of Alumni Relations will provide the nominee with an opportunity to update his or her biographic materials. If the nominee does provide an update, the nomination will remain in consideration for an additional three years. If at the end of this second period, the nominee still has not been selected to receive the award, his or her nomination will be removed from consideration.
  • Nominations for the Young Alumni Leadership Award will remain valid until fifteen years have passed since the nominee graduated. To remain in consideration, nominees must provide updates to their biographical materials every three years. If a nominee fails to provide an update, his or her nomination is removed from consideration. Young Alumni Leadership Award nominations do not become nominations for the Outstanding Alumnus Award at the end of the 15-year period.

* Northwest Christian University uses the term alumni when referring to graduates (including all post-baccalaureate degree programs) and former students who attended as full-time students for at least one full year.
