Beacon Run Raises Money for Missions
Release Date: Monday, October 03, 2011
EUGENE, Ore. - On October 1st, Northwest Christian University
held the first ever Beacon Run, a 2.5 run/walk around the
Willamette River near downtown Eugene. Several students, their
families, faculty, and staff rose early on Saturday for the run
aimed at raising money for NCU's mission teams.
The inaugural Beacon Run was scheduled as a part of NCU's yearly
Family Weekend, when families are invited to join their student on
campus and experience NCU.
Reid McCormick, NCU's Area Residence Coordinator, said, "We
really wanted to create an event that not only supported our
mission teams, but also showed families the heart of NCU and the
beauty of Eugene."
Through donations, the Beacon Run raised $500, enough to send a
student to a Spring Break mission trip this coming March. McCormick
added "I am so thrilled with the response we had at the Beacon Run.
I hope we can do this every year, continuing to raise more money
and help send students across the world to serve others and glorify
Christ."
