New Student FAQs


Explore21. How do I sign up for classes?
You can contact your Admissions Counselor at 1-877-463-6622 to schedule an appointment with an advisor.

2. When is Orientation? Is it required?
Orientation is August 27-30 and classes begin on August 31. For more information, please visit our orientation page.

3. How do I get my books?
Using your BeaconNet account, take note of the yellow highlighted course ID numbers on your class schedule. At the online bookstore follow the instructions to enter your course ID numbers. Once you have entered each of your courses, you will be able to view, reserve, or purchase your books.

4. How do I get to NCU?
NCU is located in the heart of Eugene. Maps and directions are located here.

5. What should I bring with me to campus?
If you will be living on campus, more information can be found on the Residence Life section.

6. How do I pay my first bill?
Bills will be printed around the 20th of each month, due on the 5th, and late after the 10th. Interest is charged at 1.5% after the 10th of each month.

7. How do payment plans work?
Payment plans are $75 to enroll and are interest free as long as payments are received on time. Plans can be for 8 or 10 months, and can be customized on a case-by-case basis. Contact Darcy Nolte in the Business Office at

8. I'm expecting a financial aid refund. When and where should I pick it up?
Refunds are processed every Friday and can be picked up in the Business Office after 1:00pm. The first batch of refund checks are usually printed four weeks into the semester, since Financial Aid is typically disbursed after two weeks.

9. Are there jobs available on campus?
Yes, both work-study and non work-study jobs are available. Positions will be posted online in August with further information about the hiring process.

10.  Is health insurance required as an NCU student?
Health insurance is mandatory for all students. If you currently have health insurance, you can opt out of the school health insurance plan during Orientation. If you are not currently covered, the cost to enroll in the school's health insurance plan is $1,080 for annual coverage, charged to your account during the Fall semester. 11. Will I need a parking permit to park at NCU?
Parking permits are required for all NCU parking lots and can be purchased in the Business Office for $180.
