Campus Ministry
Campus Ministry seeks to provide a spiritual formation
environment ministering to our community through programs and
initiatives inspired by the priorities Jesus Christ revealed in the
Upper Room discourse found in John 13-17. These priorities
encourage a rhythm that develops and affirms our journey inward,
outward and together. These priorities can be described in the
cadence of Restore, Love, Serve.
Spiritual development emphasizes a foundation of an ongoing
relationship with God (Father, Son and Holy Spirit). This
foundation not only fosters a powerfully authentic community at NCU
but also equips our students to become whole leaders (body, mind
and spirit) for their generation and our world.
To facilitate these priorities, Campus Ministries offers:
• Weekly chapels
that aspire to provide space to connect with God, build community,
enable worship, educate vocationally and foster spiritual
transformation.
• Life
groups are student or faculty/staff led and meet weekly to
encourage spiritual growth in the context of authentic
community. Our goal is to help each other walk as Jesus
walked, to learn together, and to provide a safe, nurturing place
to face our struggles in becoming more like Jesus.
• Cross
Cultural and overseas missions experience to expand our vision
to see what God is doing around the world. These opportunities
strengthen our faith, challenge our comfort, expose us to injustice
and poverty, train us for global leadership and inspire us to
participate in His plans.
• Opportunities to serve in the name
of Jesus, alongside local ministries and not-for-profits in the
surrounding local communities of Eugene and Springfield. Signature
Annual Events include Embrace The Community Day and The Touch
Project.
• Signature programs, developed with student leaders,
including each semester's Night of Prayer, Spiritual
Formation Week, and more.
• Pastoral care when students sense a need for a safe place for
prayer, guidance, support, encouragement, direction, affirmation,
mentoring, and nurturing in the Christian faith.
• Help to students to connect with a local church during their
years here. Though campus ministry provides pastoral care, NCU
is not a church. Students are encouraged to become active not only
in our weekly chapel but also in a local church. Our Annual Church
Fair is designed to empower students with the resources to choose a
church away from home.
