For well over a century, NCU has been committed to rigorous academics, through expert faculty teaching relevant curriculum in a small classroom setting. Students are being challenged to think in "real world" terms and put their lecture knowledge to the test through required internships. With the exposure and experience in their prospective industry, students will build connections in the community and be well prepared for the demands of the job. Whether it is graduate school or directly into the work force, NCU grads are making it happen. Deeper than knowledge, our students become critical thinkers, equipped with the practical applications needed to reach personal and professional aspirations.
Spiritual formation is our focus at NCU. Christian faith is not restricted to a single compartment of our lives, reserved for times of worship or other special "religious" activities. Rather, our faith informs and should bear upon every aspect of life, including academic and social pursuits. Our faith is simply a part of the natural environment of NCU, as faculty and staff strive to model Christ-like integrity through their own lives. The NCU community is comprised of individuals who come from a variety of Christian backgrounds and represent a wide range of Christian denominations. We welcome students who have no faith commitment or are from other faith commitments and do not require students to be Christian or subscribe to any faith statement. Central in experience, NCU students explore, discover and grow within the context of a Christ-centered community.
Our goal for our students is to put their wisdom and faith to work by leading lives of service in whatever capacity that might be. Through their experience here, students have the opportunity to serve within the communities local and abroad. This includes: Embrace the City Day, the Touch Project, and numerous service projects around the local Eugene/Springfield community; Champions of Character initiatives out of our Athletic Department and annual student mission trips around the region and world. Inspired in purpose and action, NCU students seek opportunity for servant leadership in career, family, church and community.
