Financial limitations are one of the most common reasons students choose not to study abroad. However, with the wide variety of location options and scholarships available, this does not need to be a barrier. Many students have been able to study abroad for the same cost or less than a semester at NCU.
Federal aid can be applied to your study abroad semester. Financial aid may be available, talk with your Financial Aid counselor.
NCU’s Off-Campus Study Program Scholarship
Available for a limited number of eligible students each year. We currently award $4,000 a year for up to 6 students studying abroad in the fall or spring semesters. Application is available here.
Offers 100 grants of $2,000 per student. Generation Study Abroad is an initiative, launched in 2014, of the Institute of International Education (IIE) to mobilize resources and commitments with the goal of doubling the number of U.S. students studying abroad by the end of the decade.
The Gilman Scholarship Program offers awards for undergraduate study abroad for those students who are receiving Federal Pell Grant funding at a two-year or four-year college or university to participate in study abroad programs worldwide.
These scholarships are targeted toward economically disadvantaged students, first-generation, students with disabilities and ethnic and racial diverse students.
