At a young age, Karen De Young developed her passion for making music by becoming classically trained in piano at the French Conservatory of Music in New Jersey. After attending Azusa Pacific University in southern California, she discovered her passion for making music through worship and studied under the tutelage of Dr. Gary Bonner, obtaining her Bachelor’s of Music and Communications.
Following her studies, Karen has been in worship ministry for over 20 years. She draws from her extensive experience in the church music field producing large-scale musical productions, conducting professional orchestras & choirs and overseeing all aspects of a thriving music and arts ministry. In 2005, Karen joined William Jessup University in Northern California serving as adjunct faculty member, developing their piano program and providing leadership in the music department as accompanist, musical director, and producer for live program and recording projects.
Karen joined NCU in 2013 with the opportunity to be a part of an inspiring and growing community. Her love and care for people, coupled with a passion for excellence has fueled an even greater passion to come alongside others to motivate and enable them to be their best, musically and in life. She is currently working on her doctorate at the Robert Webber Institute of Worship Studies.
