I have always had a love for learning and have pursued knowledge my whole life. My interests in business and ministry have found a creative outlet at Northwest Christian. I grew up in Springfield and attended the University of Oregon. There was never any doubt that I would go to college but after that it was a little hazier. But through prayer and good advice, I went to seminary and into ministry for 25 years (pastoring a church in West Virginia and then serving as a Navy chaplain for 21 years). After retiring from the Navy in 1996 and moving back to Eugene, I felt the draw to teach at the college level. My degree from the University of Oregon was in Finance. While in the Navy, I went to the Naval Postgraduate School for a MS in Financial Management. I completed my doctorate in 2001 from Nova Southeastern University in Ft. Lauderdale, FL in Management. I have had a lifelong interest in history and I enjoy studying the history of business; I collect old business books (before 1920). I usually teach accounting, finance, and business ethics. I enjoy being involved at my church and at the state level of church activities. Since retiring from full time teaching at Northwest Christian University in 2011, I taught as an adjunct for five more years. Now, I continue to enjoy being involved in my local church and visiting our six grandchildren (as well as visiting our son and daughter and their spouses).
