Mindi is a Licensed Professional Counselor and a National Certified Counselor. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies (Psychology/Business/Education) and a Master of Arts in Community Counseling from Northwest Christian University. She also holds a Certificate in Adoptive and Foster Family Therapy from Portland State University and is a certified Neurofeedback clinician. Additional training highlights include: Level I Clinical Training: Gottman Method Couples Therapy, Level I EMDR Training, Filial Play Therapy, Trauma Informed Care, and is a 2018 graduate of Leadership Eugene-Springfield (LES) program. Mindi is a lifelong learner and is committed to remaining apprised of current best practices and relevant research.
Mindi returns to NCU from Christians As Family Advocates (CAFA) where she worked with individuals, couples and families dealing with a number of issues such as: depression, anxiety, relationship struggles, premarital, marital, post-marital therapy and life transitions. She takes a special interest in psychoeducational groups, facilitating battering intervention groups the last 5 years, attachment, somatic work, domestic abuse, parenting, and working with community partners. Mindi is excited to join the CMCH team and their mission to prepare culturally competent mental health counselors who integrate current, evidence-based interventions and techniques with clients to foster their wellness and relationships.
Mindi is also the proud wife of Jason Barta who is the Sr. Systems Engineer for Roseburg Forest Products. They currently live in Eugene where they enjoy the outdoors, sports and raising their four energetic sons.
